As the first game of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup approaches, predictions of every description are being made from all angles. The tournament has already been exciting, with several upsets occurring in the first round, but starting on Saturday, the big teams will take center stage, with hosts and defending champions Australia playing longtime rivals England. Another traditional rivalry between India and Pakistan will then be played after this.

Australia will be a tough team to beat at home, according to former India opener Virender Sehwag, who also predicted that Australia would make the final. He predicted that India would be the other team to advance to the tournament final.

“The hosts are Australia and defeating them Down Under is very difficult. The other would be the Indian team who are balanced and have experience of playing in Australia,” Virender Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Sehwag had previously predicted that Babar Azam, the captain, and opener for Pakistan, would finish the competition with the most runs scored.

Sehwag commented on Cricbuzz, “Babar Azam from Pakistan.” The 44-year-old, who had won the tournament’s inaugural edition with India in 2007, claimed that Babar brings a calmness to the field similar to what former India skipper Virat Kohli, with whom the Pakistan captain is frequently compared, does in T20s.

“He has been extraordinary. Great fun to watch. There is a sense of calmness whenever Virat Kohli bats and you get something similar when watching Babar,” he said.

Since Rohit Sharma took over as captain of the Men in Blue, the Rahul Dravid-coached Team India has supported the fearless style of cricket play. In their World Cup match, the Rohit-led Team India will take on longtime rival Pakistan.
