KNCB announced on Monday that Gary Kirsten and Dan Christian will serve as members of the Netherlands’ coaching staff for the upcoming T20 World Cup (October 10).

Before travelling to Australia, where Gary Kirsten is scheduled to return to the team as a consultant, the Netherlands players trained at the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy in Cape Town in late September.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gary Kirsten and Dan Christian to our T20 World Cup coaching staff. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be very beneficial before, during, and after the World Cup “Roland Lefebvre, high-performance manager at KNCB, said.

Gary Kirsten was part of the coaching staff in the 2022 IPL season:

While the Netherlands team was competing in the Super League series in Ireland in 2021, Kirsten previously worked with them. For many years, he has collaborated closely with the head coach, Ryan Cook. Kirsten, who led India to victory at the 2011 World Cup, served as a member of the coaching staff for the Gujarat Titans, who won the 2022 IPL.

Speaking about his most recent assignment, Kirsten said: “I had a great time working with the Dutch team in Cape Town, and I’m excited to be a consultant for them during the T20 World Cup. The level of expertise and professionalism displayed during the camp really impressed me. At the T20 World Cup, they will be prepared and driven to leave a significant impression.”

In the first round of the T20 World Cup, the Netherlands are grouped with the UAE, Namibia, and Sri Lanka. On October 16, they play their first game against the UAE. Then, on October 18 and 20, they play Namibia and Sri Lanka, respectively. In the Group phase, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 12 stage, which starts on October 21.
