Former India opener Virender Sehwag made a direct remark on Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan after his team’s tight loss to India in the T20 World Cup.
The Indian bowlers staged a fantastic turnaround to help the team win a narrow five-run victory (DLS) against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.

The India-Bangladesh match had been preceded by a strange comment from the latter’s captain, Shakib Al Hasan, who seemed to indicate that his team defeating India would be an “upset.”

“We are not here to win the World Cup, but India is. If we win tomorrow, it will be a surprise. Tomorrow, India is the favourite, “On the eve of the match, Shakib had stated.

Many saw this remark as the Bangladesh captain’s pre-match mental preparation. Shakib, on the other hand, failed to create an impression with the bat on Tuesday, scoring 13 off 12 deliveries in the run-chase, exiting in the 13th over when Bangladesh still needed 51 runs to win in 26 deliveries.

The captain should take responsibility: Virender Sehwag

In his usual straightforward approach, former India opener Virender Sehwag responded to Shakib’s remark after the game.

“The skipper should take responsibility. Shanto was dismissed before, and Shakib was out in the same over. They lose three quick wickets if there had been one partnership… in T20s, a 20-run partnership in 10 balls can also affect the game,” Virender Sehwagstated on Cricbuzz.

“I believe the skipper also made a mistake. He has experience; he should accept responsibility and play until the end, as Kohli did. He should’ve gotten the team out of danger before making such a foolish statement,” Sehwag added.
