In his remarks before India’s semi-final match against England, de Villiers expressed his happiness at Suryakumar’s progress and emphasized how far he has come.

“I’m thrilled for Surya. I believe he has made significant progress. Given the way he is playing, I never saw this happening” said de Villiers.

The former captain of South Africa praised Suryakumar for his growth and predicted a promising future for him.

“He was very conservative and stuck to his game plans at the start but he is now laying the platform and foundation and then starting to dominate the bowlers. It is fantastic to see that and he has a bright future ahead of him,” de Villiers added.

“The best four teams have reached the semi-final stage”: AB de Villiers

Although the best four teams have advanced to the T20 World Cup semi-finals, AB de Villiers believes that an IPL-style format will fit the tournament better.

“I believe the top four teams in the world are in the World Cup semifinals.” There should be additional games, in my opinion. There aren’t nearly enough games” AB de Villiers said.

“If you have ten teams, you play nine games to determine the top four, and then you have an IPL-style playoff system where one plays two, three plays four, and if one or two loses, the winner of three and four plays the winner of one and two “That seems like a fair system to me. “99 percent of the time, the best team will win the tournament,”  AB de Villiers added.

After New Zealand faces Pakistan in the first semi-final in Sydney, India and England will meet at the Adelaide Oval on November 10.
