Virat Kohli and Babar Azam have frequently been contrasted. They are without a shadow of a doubt the top two batsmen in cricket.

But on Sunday, Kohli, who orchestrated India’s stunning victory in the T20 World Cup at the MCG, even the Pakistan captain was in awe of him.

The difference between the two teams was brought about by Kohli’s brilliant batting display in front of the 90,000-plus crowd at the MCG.

“In the first ten overs, our bowlers were outstanding. Virat and Hardik deserve credit for how they finished the game,” Babar said after the defeat.

But Babar was enthusiastic in his admiration of Kohli when the conversation turned to him. “Today, Virat Kohli just gave a master class. People liked the close game because it was exciting.”

After a three-year slump, winning a pressure game will enhance Kohli’s spirits, Babar concurred.

“The faster you can recover from the added strain of playing against Pakistan and India, the better. He faced pressure but overcame it, which allowed him to boost his inning total. This is why he is such a major player. Their method of forming a relationship was a turning point,” the captain of Pakistan stated.

“This innings must have given him a lot of confidence and when you win this kind of game, you mentally feel good,” he added.

“The crowd has been phenomenal”: Virat Kohli

Speaking about the just-finished match between the longtime rivals, Indian captain Rohit summoned Pakistan to bat at the MCG after winning the toss. Arshdeep Singh, an Indian bowler, first gave Babar a perfect score before getting Mohammad Rizwan for a grand total of one.

Pakistan reached 159-8 in 20 overs because of half-centuries from Iftikhar Ahmed (51), Shan Masood (52), and other players. In response, India lost KL Rahul and Rohit in the first powerplay before Kohli grabbed control and saved the Asian superpowers from a batting meltdown.

The former Indian skipper was named the Player of the Match for his batting masterclass.

” Till today Mohali was my best innings against Australia. Today I will count this one higher. Hardik kept pushing me. The crowd has been phenomenal. You guys (fans) kept backing me and I am grateful for your support,” Kohli said after the match.

India’s next match is against the Netherlands on October 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
