Suryakumar Yadav is currently among the finest T20 batsmen in the world, and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that. He is the best, some may say.

Making a name for yourself in a batting order with Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli at the top, and Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik as finishers, is a herculean task, but SKY, as Suryakumar is affectionately referred to, has not only managed to hold his own but has also emerged as another superstar in the Indian unit.

The team will play England for a spot in the title game after earlier in the day, the Netherlands’ dramatic victory over South Africa earned them a spot in the semi-finals.

After Rohit Sharma (15) and Virat Kohli (26) were bowled early in the innings, India had a tense start, but KL Rahul continued his outstanding form with another half-century, striking a vital 51 off 35 deliveries to help steady the Indian innings alongside Suryakumar.

Dinesh Karthik was replaced in India’s starting lineup by Rishabh Pant, however, the former’s innings were ended by Ryan Burl’s amazing diving catch on the boundary line. Suryakumar put together a 65-run partnership with Hardik Pandya (18) after Pant was dismissed on 3 and used mostly power-hitting to finish the innings strong with 21 runs in the final over.

India eventually finished out Zimbabwe’s innings at 115, recording their fourth victory of the group and taking the lead with 8 points. On Thursday in Adelaide, India will play host to England.
