Team India didn’t perform as expected in the Asia Cup 2022. Team India failed to qualify for the finals. With the poor performance in the Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma’s team may try different combinations, but they don’t have much time to decide on a lineup for the T20 World Cup.
While some cricket boards have already announced their squads for the T20 World Cup 2022, Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness seems to be one of the reasons behind the delay in announcing the Indian squad.
BCCI Set TO Pick The Squad For World Cup On September 16
The BCCI set to pick the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup on September 16. As the deadline approaches, selectors and team management are concerned about the fitness of premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The BCCI medical team is constantly monitoring Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness ahead of the squad selection.
Bumrah, who missed the Asia Cup due to injury, is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The NCA’s medical team is yet to certify the star bowler as fully fit. But it is reported that the selectors are not concerned as the T20 World Cup is still a month away.
Jasprit Bumrah was generous enough to spare time and share his wisdom and experiences with the Under-19 boys at the NCA. A perfect role model, humble and passionate, I am sure he will have made a strong impression on the future hopefuls of Indian cricket. @BCCI #NCA pic.twitter.com/wabTGy3mv6

“Bumrah has not been declared fit yet. He is going to be at the NCA this week before the selection. The World Cup is still over a month away. Therefore, his selection will happen considering that,” a BCCI source told TOI.
Harshal Patel Working Hard To Be Fit
Harshal Patel is also working hard to stay fit for the T20 World Cup. He also missed the Asia Cup due to a rib injury. Both he and Jasprit Bumrah will join the Indian squad as soon as the medical team gives the all-clear.
India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has stated that both pacers will walk into the team when they are fit to play. It will be interesting to see how the team management handles the two pacers going forward. Most of the players selected for the World Cup will almost certainly play in the two T20I series against South Africa and Australia at home during the next month.
According to sources, getting match fitness is key for Bumrah. It will be interesting to see how many matches he plays in the next month. The management wants Bumrah to be at his best in the World Cup, but doesn’t want to push him in the lead-up.
Deepak Chahar Will Be One Of The Contenders For World Cup
Deepak Chahar, who played for India against Afghanistan, is also another strong candidate for selection. The fact that he can bat down the order is a huge benefit for the squad.
The team’s management had already chosen a pool of pacers for the T20 format in February. Mohammed Shami was not considered for the format. With so little time till the World Cup, it will be interesting to see if the selectors decide to depend on him.
