India National Cricket Team have suffered a major blow ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 as pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the marquee tournament with a back stress fracture, as per a report in PTI.
Jasprit Bumrah had suffered a back injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 that ruled him out of the multi-nation tournament. He recently made a comeback to the side in the second T20I game of the three-match series against Australia. The star pacer was expected to feature in the first T20I of the three-match T20I series against South Africa, but he was ruled out of the game due to back pain.
“Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I,” BCCI had tweeted.
Now, PTI is reporting that the star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and he could be out of action for six months due to a back stress fracture.
“Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months,” the senior BCCI official told PTI.

Meanwhile, India have two pacers – Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar – in the reserves for the ICC Men’s T20 World 2022 and one of the pacers is likely to get called up to the main squad.
Bumrah’s absence is a massive blow to India’s hopes of performing well in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13.
