Pakistan captain Babar Azam smashed an unbeaten 110 off just 66 balls as Pakistan defeated England by 10 wickets in the second T20I of the seven-match series at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan set a world record partnership of 203 runs to lead the team to victory. Rizwan scored 88 runs off 51 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. Babar and Rizwan also recorded the highest opening partnership record for Pakistan in T20Is.

England won the toss and chose to bat first. England scored 199 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. England captain Moeen Ali played a quick-fire innings of 55 runs in 23 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes and finished the innings with two sixes in the last over. Ben Duckett scored 43 runs off 22 balls and Harry Brook scored 31 runs off 19 balls.

In just 36 innings batting together in T20Is, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have shared 1929 runs at an average of 56.73 with 7 hundred partnerships, the most by any pair. The Pakistan opening pair surpassed the Indian opening pair’s record previously held by Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 1743 runs in 52 innings at an average of 33.51.

Among the above-mentioned Rahul and Rohit are the only active opening duo, while Dhawan still remains an active international player, he is not in the scheme of T20I selection. However, Rohit and Dhawan remain India’s first-choice opening pair in One-Day Internationals.

Pakistan will play the third T20I of the seven-match T20I series against England on Friday, September 23. Rohit and Rahul will play in the second T20I of the series against Australia tonight in Nagpur.
