On Monday, October 17, during India’s first T20 World Cup 2022 warm-up match against Australia at The Gabba, Brisbane, Virat Kohli displayed his fielding prowess, turning the game around to help his team secure a thrilling six-run victory.

Harshal Patel slipped in a full, slower ball with Australia needing 16 off 11, but Josh Inglis mistimed it to the leg side. In a single motion, Virat Kohli, who was positioned at short mid-wicket, ran across the field, grabbed the ball, and fired a direct hit onto the stumps to dismiss Tim David.

A ball earlier, Harshal had dismissed back-to-back well-positioned Aaron Finch (76 off 54) with a perfect slower in-dipping yorker, bringing India back into the match.

Virat Kohli Takes a one-handed stunner:

Virat Kohli was not yet finished. He made an outstanding one-handed catch to dismiss Pat Cummins in the following over, which helped India maintain their hold. After a lengthy break, Mohammed Shami was bowling his first competitive over of cricket when he pitched one full, which Cummins fairly well timed towards long-on. To his amusement, Kohli leapt high and made a stunning grab with his right hand.

India defeated Australia by six runs thanks to Kohli, who first ran out Tim David with a sensational throw before hitting Pat Cummins with a one-handed stunner in the final over.

In India’s 15-man squad, Shami was chosen to replace the injured Jasprit Bumrah. Shami allowed just four runs in the final over while taking three wickets to help India secure a slim victory. From his three overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned 2/20, while Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal each claimed a wicket.
