Team India’s fans received a huge setback on Thursday when the news of Jasprit Bumrah’s injury started doing the rounds. The India pace spearhead has been ruled out of the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury.

There are also reports suggesting that the right-arm pacer is set to miss the upcoming T20 World Cup too. With the marquee event less than one month away, the latest turn of events have dealt a huge blow to Team India’s preparations. Bumrah is one of the best if not the best T20 bowler in the world and missing him would be huge blow for the Men in Blue.

India are already without one of their star players – Ravindra Jadeja – for the tournament and another injury setback could very well derail the team’s campaign. And while only time will tell how things unfold for India at the 2022 T20 World Cup, we are taking a look at some recent reports that suggest that Bumrah is still not out of the tournament.

Well, the way things have unfolded in the last few hours, one can say that Bumrah is still not ruled out of the tournament. That the BCCI is yet to announce the same is a big indication that the hopes have not ended yet. And now recent reports suggest that the star pacer is still in contention to fly to Australia.

Will Jasprit Bumrah play in T20 World Cup 2022?

As the Indian cricket fraternity eagerly awaits a positive update on Jasprit Bumrah from the BCCI, senior cricket journalist K Shriniwas Rao has tweeted that fans should not worry about Bumrah missing the event. He also provided a positive update on the bowler, writing:

“Was travelling last couple of days so missed out on quite a bit… So, all those worried about the possibility of Jasprit Bumrah missing the World Cup… please don’t be. He is in very good hands & the word coming out right now is extremely positive — he may fly. Fingers crossed. “

There is still more than three weeks left before India play their first game in the T20 World Cup. Their first game is against Pakistan on October 23 and it gives the BCCI’s medical time some much-needed time to ensure that Bumrah recovers quickly. Bumrah has nearly a month to recover from the back issue and thus one can say that he is still in contention to play the T20 World Cup.
