Former India U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand shared his thoughts on facing India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Unmukt Chand expressed both excitement and the pressure that comes with the upcoming clash in the ICC prestigious tournament.

Unmukt Chand retired from Indian cricket nine years after captaining the U19 World Cup-winning team. He faced challenges in maintaining consistency at the senior level after his early success with the youth team. The right-handed batter relocated to the USA in 2021.

Following his retirement from Indian cricket, Chand engaged in various international leagues, including the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Additionally, the batter also participated in Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States (USA).

Chand is poised to become eligible to represent the USA in March 2024, meeting the criteria of residing in the country for the required duration. He might be part of the USA team for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to commence in the Caribbean Islands and the United States.

Look Forward To That Clash – Unmukt Chand

In a recent interview with SportsNow, Unmukt Chand expressed his anticipation for the clash against India in the World Cup, describing it as ‘special’. Chand mentioned that he has played with many players from the current team.

“Well, if that happens, and when that happens, it will be very obvious, I look forward to that clash. I don’t know; I mean, I have played with many of the guys who are on the Indian team right now,” Chand said.

“So it’s special, it’s nice, and again, from a purely cricketing angle, it’s something that I look forward to because India is one of the top teams in the world, and you would want to face that team, so it’s also going to be like big pressure, but at the same time, it’s going to be challenging. So as a sport, like cricket, I think it’s going to be really nice, and yeah, I look forward to it, man,” he added.

If selected to represent the USA, Chand would potentially face former teammates from the India ‘A’ squad, including Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, as they compete in the same World Cup group alongside India and Pakistan.
