Not England or India! Michael Vaughan backs this firepower team to win T20 World Cup 2024

Former England cricketer Micheal Vaughan put his bet on Australia to win the upcoming  T20 World Cup 2024. He believes that the Mitchell Marsh-led team have power and if he has to put his punt on any team to win it would be the 2023 World Cup winners. 

The T20 World Cup 2024 will be taking place in the month of June. The tournament will be played from 1st to 30th June in the Caribbean and the United States of America (USA). It will be the first time that 20 teams will be taking part in the tournament and no doubt it promises to be an enthralling event. 

Going into the T20 World Cup 2024, Australia will be one of the hot favorites to win the tournament. The Men in Yellow in the past 3-4 years have turned into a force to reckon with and are looking like an unbeatable team, giving vibes of the Australian dominance in the early 2000s. 

Australia in the year 2023 first won the ICC World Test Championship final and then went on to win the ICC World Cup 2023. With the kind of players they have in the team, they will be hard to stop and will be one of the toughest teams to compete in the T20 World Cup 2024. 

Michael Vaughan believes that Australia will win the T20 World Cup 2024 because they have a ‘ridiculous batting lineup’. He feels that modern-day cricket doesn’t need any anchors and Australia doesn’t have one as all they have is power in the batting lineup. 

Michael Vaughan highlighted the batting lineup of the Australian team and said that along with variations in bowling, they will be hot favourites to win the tournament. Speaking during the Club Prairie Fire podcast, he explained: 

“I think the Aussies are going to win the World Cup. I do believe, obviously, they are the 50-over World Champions, but that, that batting lineup is ridiculous. That has got everything you need in T20 cricket. It’s the days of that, we were saying last week, the days of having a, a needler knocking it around has gone. They have just got power. 

“Head, Warner, Marsh, Maxwell, Inglis, David, Short of Wade. I’m sorry but that’s getting plenty. When you add into the bowling variations and obviously the, they’ve got the pace, they got spin, got plenty of options.”

Michael Vaughan further expressed his confidence in Australia winning the T20 World Cup 2024, saying that they will be heading into West Indies and America as favorit. Talking about the same, he said: 

“Um, I, think Australia arrive in the West Indies and America as favourites to win. I know we are not allowed to have a punt in the game, but I would be having a punt on Australia if I was allowed to have a punt.” 

Australia won the T20 World Cup in 2021 in UAE under the leadership of Aaron Finch. They failed to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament in 2022 at their home. But this time around, they would be hoping to win another title.
