Team India might face a challenge in five of the remaining Tests in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, as per Saba Karim.
The Indian team is currently ranked 4th in the World Team Cup standings. To have a chance to reach the finals, they’ll have to win most of their remaining matches.
Saba Karim was questioned during a debate whether Team India will have to win all seven of their remaining Tests to compete for the WTC final. He replied, ”
“You don’t have any options, so that’s the ultimate solution. I anticipate India will confront a battle in 5 Test matches, along with the one that will be contested in England and the four which will be played at home against Australia.”
Rohit Sharma’s squad cannot decide to pay the Australians casually, according to the former India cricketer. Saba Karim’s reasoning is as follows:
“Australia does have a great team too though. Since they are currently playing Matches against Pakistan, they will still have acquired more knowledge of the circumstances and will profit from it. In contrast, Australia currently includes two spinners in Nathan Lyon and Swepson, a leg-spinner. When Australia comes to India, I assume they should be well trained.”
Saba Karim feels Bangladesh will not be good enough to compete with India in the Test:
According to Saba Karim, Bangladesh will pose little threat against Team India. As he Stated,
“I think India will only face a battle in these five Tests.” There is a big disparity in quality among our squad and the Bangladesh squad when it comes to India competing in Bangladesh.”
Furthermore, the former India selector stated his hope that the Test match against Australia will not be contested on calm pitches. Saba Karim went on to say more:
“It is unnecessary for us to consider the other teams. We must simply work toward our aim. I believe that, given our current record and the fact that six matches will be played on the Indian subcontinent, the most important thing is that we acquire direct consequence wickets in India, which we are currently getting.”
The Indian squad is presently ranked fourth in the World Test Championships point standings.
