Sri Lanka are all set to host Pakistan in the second Test in Galle starting from July 24. They lost the first Test and are trailing the series 0-1. They need to win the second Test to draw the series. The series is a part of the ongoing World Test Championship.

Pakistan chased down 344 in the second innings to win the first Test by four wickets. Babar Azam scored a century in the first innings but it was Abdullah Shafique’s unbeaten 160 that helped the Men in Green chase down the score in the second innings.  Meanwhile, Pakistan have been dealt with a heavy blow ahead of the second test. Shaheen Afridi has been ruled out of the second Test with a knee injury which the PCB confirmed in a statement. 

“He will stay with the Test side in Sri Lanka, where his initial rehabilitation and management will continue under the supervision of the team’s medical staff,” the PCB statement read.

Sri Lankans have their task cut out ahead of the second test. They played a Test series against Australia at home heading into this Test series. The series ended 1-1 after Australia won the first Test and the Lankans bounced back to win the second. 

Pakistan also played their last Test series against Australia which ended 1-0. The side lost to the Aussies led by Pat Cummins. In the three-match series in March 2022, the first two Tests ended in a draw. Australia defeated Pakistan by 115 runs in the 3rd Test.
