Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table After Pakistan vs Australia 1st Test

The first Test between Australia and Pakistan ended in a dull draw as both sides lost points in ICC’s World Test Championship (WTC) points table. They continue to lead the table, however, with the Aussies holding on to the top spot.

The Pindi Test was a historic moment as it was the first time that Australia had toured Pakistan since 1998. However, the excitement washed away in a matter of moments after the pitch that was laid out ended up being an absolute belter with nothing in it for the bowlers.

Pakistan batted first and played slowly, piling up 476/4 on the board. Imam-ul-Haq scored 157 while Azhar Ali helped himself to 185. In response, the top four Aussie batters looked in great touch.

Usman Khawaja, returning to his birth country, scored 97 while David Warner chipped in with 68. They put up 156 for the opening wicket which was built on by No.3 and No.4, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith.

Lower-order contributions then saw Australia getting bowled out for 259, conceding a lead of just 17 runs. The match was heading towards a draw by then, and Pakistan decided to get more match practice.

Their openers stitched a 252-run unbeaten association, with Imam-ul-Haq scoring his second hundred of the game. Finally, the teams shook hands to end one of the most uneventful Test matches in recent times.

With that, Australia now has 56 points in 1st place, winning 77.7% points available. Pakistan is in second with 66.66% of points won, similar to Sri Lanka. South Africa is in fourth with a % of 60 while India follows in 5th, having secured 54.16% of points.
