Young Indian batter Shubman Gill achieved a massive feat in the history of the ODIs. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to smash the most centuries in the 50-over format in a calendar year. He hit four tons in 2023 whereas the batting great had registered 3 hundreds in 1996.
Shubman Gill achieved the feat in the ongoing second ODI against Australia at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The Indian opener continued his golden touch and played some staggering strokes that made many stand and applaud him. He scored a vital 70 in the first game and followed it up with a brilliant century.
Shubman Gill after being watchful early took off and didn’t look back. He smashed every Australian bowler all over the ground and made them look clueless. He looked in complete control of his innings as he played shots with full authority.
Shubman Gill brought up his 6th ODI ton in 92 balls and also smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. This was his 4th ton in this format this year. Sachin Tendulkar also surpassed Mark Waugh and Chris Gayle, who smashed 3 tons in 1996 and 2022 respectively.
