Watch: Shubman Gill shows great dedication; trains alone ahead of 5th Test against England

Young India batter Shubman Gill has kick-started his preparations for the last Test match against England. The final game of the series, which has already been won by India, will be played from 7th March in Dharamsala.

In what has been the signs of pure dedication, Shubman Gill has hit the ground running even though other players are enjoying their time off. The young batter was seen training at the PCA Stadium in Mohali ahead of the final game of the series against England.

On Friday (1st March), a picture of Shubman Gill went viral in which he was seen batting with all focus on the nets. What caught the attention of many was he was batting under the guidance of his father, who was keenly watching him from behind the nets at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Shubman Gill didn’t stop there as he turned up again on Saturday (2nd March) and was seen getting ready for the fifth Test. The young batter was doing a running drill at the PCA Stadium and the video went viral the on internet and many hailed him for his dedication.

Shubman Gill has looked in solid touch in the ongoing Test series against England. After failing in the initial part of the series, he made sure that he got his mojo back anrepliedly to all the critics in style. He slammed a blistering century in the second innings of the second Test.

Shubman Gill also smashed 91 runs in the second innings the of Rajkot Test helping the team win the game. The young batter’s best came in the last match against Ranchi. He stood tall for his team under pressure and made sure that he took his team home.

In the chase of 192, India were struggling and lost wickets quickly. However, Shubman Gill held the fort for his team and scored unbeaten 52 runs to take his team home and win the series by the margin of 3-1.

After winning the Ranchi game for his team, Shubman Gill spoke about how skipper Rohit Sharma backed youngsters to play to their strengths. He also talked about his partnership with Dhruv Jurel and explained:

“It means the world to us, coming here and having to play the series with not much batting experience, having lost KL after the first Test.. but Rohit Bhai backed us and gave us the confidence to go out and play with freedom.

“We were put under pressure by them, but we got a good start by our openers, losing a couple of wickets put pressure. But Jurel came out and took the pressure off. You have to see the situation and play accordingly – they were bowling well and protecting the boundaries, also not giving maidens and keep picking the singles.”

Shubman Gill is the second-highest run-getter in the ongoing Test series against England. He has scored 342 runs in 4 games at an average of around 49.
