Indian bowlers dominated and restricted Bangladesh to just 227 runs on the first day of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat returned to the team after 12 years and took two wickets and finished the first innings with the figures of 2/50.
Unadkat made his Test debut against South Africa when he was 19 years old, but he failed to pick up any wickets and went for more than 100 runs in 26 overs. Unadkat took his maiden wicket in the Dhaka Test on Thursday, and the happiness on his face was evident.

I Didn’t Get A Wicket Back Then – Jaydev Unadkat
In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Unadkat stated that he had visualized the moment more than 1000 times in between his two Test matches. He said that not taking a wicket in his debut test hurt him.
“I had visualised this moment may be a thousand times, in between when I played my first Test and now. I didn’t get a wicket back then and that was the talk every time people talked about me when I got the opportunity to play for the Indian team again,” Unadkat said in the video published by BCCI.

Thank You Everyone Who Have Believed In Me – Jaydev Unadkat
Unadkat missed more than a century in Tests (118) between the two games, the second-most in world cricket. Only English player Gareth Batty (142) missed more in Test cricket history. The pacer praised his family and claimed that his wife was confident that he would play for India again.
“I actually miss playing with the red ball and honestly, it was not just about getting the Test recall and it was also about getting to play the Ranji Trophy again. Thank you everyone who have believed in me throughout this journey, and especially my family and friends who are watching back home and my wife, who somehow believed that I will get a Test recall more than myself. Thank you to all of them, really really really grateful,” Unadkat concluded.
