Former Indian player Wasim Jaffer said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has cemented his place in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. The 32-year-old Indian pacer is making his experience count after playing international cricket for almost a decade.
Just a few months ago experts were criticising the pacer for running out of steam and found him a liability for the Indian white-ball side. Bhuvneshwar has responded to the critics in his own style first, he picked six wickets in the five-match series against South Africa at home.

In the second T20I in Cuttack, the senior Indian bowler went bonkers with the movement of the ball. He ran through the visitors’ batting unit upfront in their chase of a moderate 149 on a tricky surface and claimed three early wickets to reduce Proteas to 29 for three in the Powerplay overs.
Bhuvneshwar finished 4/13 in that game but South Africa won the match on the back of Heinrich Klassen’s masterclass batting.

Coming to the first T20I match against England, Bhuvneshwar bowled a burgeoning inswinger to castle Jos Buttler upfront in the second innings. He finished 1/10 from three overs as India won by 50 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
“In international cricket, a bowler who swings the ball will have most of the batters struggling, especially with the ball you don’t see many bowlers swinging it but Bhuvi is a great exponent of it,” Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo.
“He has been getting it right since he came back to the side, and it was great to see him producing a good performance against a quality batting line-up. I don’t see any doubt in my mind that he’s going to be in the World Cup squad. He’s an absolute certainty.
“Will the ball swing as much in Australia? I don’t know, but if anybody swings, it will be Bhuvi. I think he has inked his name into that World Cup squad already,” he added.
India will play the second T20I against England on Saturday (July 9) at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
