Jos Buttler won the toss for the second day in a row and chose to bat first.

India rested Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Hardik Pandya from their playing XI. Due to the absence of Hardik Pandya, India entered the game with only five bowling options.

Apart from Harshal Patel and Ravi Bishnoi, all the other bowlers went for runs all over the ground, with David Malan and Liam Livingstone in particular liking Umran Malik, who went for 56 runs in his spell.

Malan who was under scrutiny for his poor run in the first two games scored 77 off 39 balls and helped England put 216 runs on the board.

It Was Unreal From Suryakumar Yadav Out There: Reece Topley

India did not get off to a good start in the chase, as Reece Topley, who came back into the side, took Rishabh Pant out in his first over. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli too got out inside the powerplay. But then Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer got together and added more than 100 runs. But Topley returned to account for Iyer’s wicket.

Topley was declared the player of the match for his performance as he picked up 3 wickets for just 22 runs in his 4 overs.

After the game, he said, “Some great knocks today, happy to receive this. Isolate every ball, some batters are set, some aren’t set, and come up with a plan that will restrict runs or get a wicket. We were never that far away, an unbelievable knock on their side but we had to believe. I was speechless by some of the shots, in awe some of the time to be honest. Looking forward to relishing the rest of the summer.”

India would rue not closing the series with a clean sweep.
