ENG vs IND: Mohammad Shami Becomes Fastest Indian, Overall 3rd Joint-Fastest Bowler To Pick 150 Wickets In ODIs

Even as the format changed here on Tuesday, the Indian team’s new bowlers continued to wreak havoc on English batters, as the new ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami sent half of the English team to the dugout in the first 8 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah, in particular, was in lethal form, dismissing four English batters. Three of his wickets came from batters who were out for ducks.

Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Liam Livingstone were the three batters to get out to Bumrah.

Mohammad Shami Started Off Well For India In The Powerplay

While Shami got the wicket of Ben Stokes for a duck. He may not have picked up as many wickets as Bumrah in the first 10 overs but he returned after the powerplay and bounced out England’s captain, Jos Buttler for 30.

It was his 150th ODI wicket and as soon as Suryakumar Yadav took the catch on the boundary, Shami became the quickest bowler to reach to 150 ODI wickets. overall he became the third quickest to the milestone.

In the 2nd over of his 2nd spell, he also cleans bowled Craig Overton and reduced England to 68-8 in just 17 over.

The fastest to the milestone is Mitchell Starc who achieved the milestone in just 77 matches. Saqlain Mushtaq achieved this feat in 78 games. While Shami has achieved this feat in 80 games. Rashid Khan also achieved the milestone in 80 matches.

Shami has not played much ODI cricket for India in recent times. In fact, this is the first time that both Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah played together after a while. It has a lot to do with the schedule as well as other factors such as injuries.
