Indian skipper Rohit Sharma hit the nets a day after testing negative for Covid-19 and came out of the isolation period to prepare for India’s limited-overs series against England this week.

On Sunday, it was reported that the Indian captain was out of isolation and is available for the three T20 Internationals and as many ODIs against England. Rohit, who was set to lead India in the one-off Test match, was ruled out due to multiple tests suggesting the 35-year-old contracted the dreadful virus and subsequently went under an isolation period.

Ace Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah replaced Rohit as captain of the side for the rescheduled fifth Test against England in Birmingham. Bumrah became the second fast bowler to lead India 35 years later since Kapil Dev captained the national side for the last time in March 1987.

“Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocols is now out of quarantine. However, he is not playing today’s T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire as he will need some recovery time and training ahead of the first T20I,” a senior BCCI official told news agency PTI.
