For the second day in a row, Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bat first.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Hardik Pandya were all rested for India.

Apart from Harshal Patel and Ravi Bishnoi, all the other bowlers went for runs all over the ground, with David Malan and Liam Livingstone particularly fond of Umran Malik’s 56-run session.

Malan, who was criticised for his poor performance in the first two games, hit 77 from 39 balls to help England reach 216 runs.

India did not get off to a good start. Pant had an unlucky inside edge. Kohli donned the aggressive persona and hammered four and six, but was out on the next ball in what was a heart-stopping moment for Indian fans. Topley then outwitted Rohit by bowling a slower ball.

SKY played some daring shots at one end. He knew exactly where Buttler’s troops were. He read the ball quite well and was in excellent positions to place those shots in spaces. If his square driving wasn’t already impressive, he took it to the next level by hitting sixes off the front foot over the backward point. Suddenly, he was in charge, with Shreyas playing second fiddle. Eventually, he ran out of partners and India lost the game.

Jos Buttler after the game said, “Good fun to play, fantastic game. I thought we had a slightly above-par score. Unbelievable innings from SKY. I thought Reece Topley bowled into the wicket and took pace off really well. It was pleasing to see Gleeson back up with another performance. CJ was good too. We are blessed with options.

Lot of all-rounders in there as well. We bat deep. It was a difficult decision but Mo was keen to bowl selfless character. CJ has had a great series. Bowled some tough overs and he looked in fantastic shape and got the rewards.

Jos Buttler would be happy with the win going into the ODI series.
