Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has praised England’s Joe Root for his incredible run of success in recent months.
The 31-year-old showed why he is probably the best Test batter right now with an undefeated century against India at Edgbaston. His 142-run knock aided England in completing a record-breaking chase.
Aakash Chopra asserted in a video on his YouTube channel that Root is in a league of his own and that he stands head and shoulders above the competition.
He stated: “Over 10,000 Test runs have been made by Joe Root, and 25% of those runs came in the previous two years. Root was on 15–16 when Virat Kohli and Steve Smith each had 27 Test hundreds. They are currently at 27, and Root has quickly reached 28 hundred.”
“We formerly believed he was not a member of the “Fab 4,” and I still believe this because he has since moved beyond them. He had all the chances, as evidenced by the audacity with which he hit Trent Boult and Shardul Thakur for reverse sweeps.”
‘McCullum helped Bairstow rediscover his rhythm’: Aakash Chopra
Jonny Bairstow, who was named Player of the Match, scored hundreds in both innings. Bairstow is in the best possible shape of his life and has already struck an amazing six hundred in Test cricket in 2022.
Brendon McCullum, the new England coach, has instituted a new “Bazeball” style of aggressive cricket, and according to Aakash Chopra, it has helped Bairstow rediscover his mojo. He declared:
“Jonny Bairstow has also enjoyed amassing runs. It appears that Brendon McCullum’s liberation is enabling him to achieve his full potential.”
England won the fifth Test at Edgbaston on Tuesday after defeating India by seven wickets and completing a record run chase.
