IND vs ENG: "Resting Wont Help You...": Former Selector's Strong Statement On Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli‘s performance as an eccentric batsman has recently generated a lot of discussion. In the second ODI, the former captain struggled to get going and was eventually removed by David Willey.
The dismissal was particularly disheartening because Kohli only managed 16 runs before edging a delivery well beyond off-stump and was sent back to the pavilion.
You Can Only Rest If You Are Scoring 100’s: Sarandeep Singh
In light of the fact that Kohli won’t be playing in the next ODI and T20I series against the West Indies, former selector Sarandeep Singh has stated that he does get the value of resting given that Kohli hasn’t been contributing to the runs.
“I do not understand what is the meaning of rest? You can only rest if you are scoring 100s. We can understand if he is playing for the last 3 months, has scored 4/5 100s, he has got the liberty to take rest and then he can say he needs rest,” Sarandeep told NDTV.
“Even before IPL, he played 2 Test matches, did not play ODIs and T20Is. Then after IPL, he did not play the T20Is against South Africa. Sitting out and resting will not help you to get back in form,” he further added.
Virat Kohli’s Struggles Continue
Since scoring his last international century in 2019, Kohli has failed to reach the three-figure mark. The hitter struggled to get going against England in both the T20Is and the Edgbaston Test.
India’s selection for the forthcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies, which starts on July 22, will not include Kohli.
India was unable to chase down 247 in the second one-day international against England, and the team was eventually dismissed for 146, losing the game by a score of 100 runs. For the hosts, Reece Topley claimed a six-wicket haul.
