Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian batsman, praised Hardik Pandya for his outstanding all-round efforts not just in the third ODI but throughout the entire series.
Pandya became the fourth Indian cricketer to take four wickets and score fifty runs in the same game with his career-best statistics of 4/24 and 71 in the third ODI vs. England.
India struggled in the second game of the three-match ODI series against England after dominating The Three Lions by a score of 10 wickets in the first game. The batting order suffered a breakdown as they were dismissed for only 146 while attempting to reach a 247-point target. However, India did triumph in the third game because of Rishabh Pant’s first century and Hardik Pandya’s outstanding all-around effort.
England was bowled for 259 in the first innings of the third ODI, failing to put up a significant target. The Indian spinners did a commendable job of containing them to the reachable goal. Hardik Pandya, who finished with career-best numbers of 4/24, was the main wrecker.
‘Hardik has made his comeback at the right time’: Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian batsman, praised Hardik Pandya for his outstanding all-around efforts during the entire series and not just in the third ODI.
“India sorely needed an all-rounder, so Hardik’s comeback came at the perfect time. They now have Pandya and Jadeja, who can both bowl and bat for ten overs. When you consider the squads that won the world championships in 1983, 1985, 2011, and 2013, they all had strong all-around players “In a conversation with Sports Tak, Sunil Gavaskar noted.
India ran into trouble while chasing 260, losing 4 wickets in the first 18 overs. Pandya helped the Men in Blue get back into the game by scoring 71 runs off of 55 balls, including 10 fours. Hardik Pandya, who took part in the process, is now the fourth Indian cricketer to take four wickets and score fifty runs in the same game.
