Arshdeep Singh made a stunning debut in international cricket when he became the 99th man to represent India in T20 cricket in the first T20I against England.

In 4 overs, he picked up 2 wickets and also bowled a maiden over. Unfortunately for him, he could not play the next two matches as he wasn’t part of the squad as Jasprit Bumrah was back for the 2nd game and for the third game, Umran Malik was preferred over him.

He is part of India’s ODI squad and he was expected to make his debut in the the first ODI, but an injury prior to the game ruled him out of contention for a potential debut.

Arshdeep Singh Could Have Earned His Potential Debut

After the toss, the BCCI through Twitter informed that both Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh were not considered for selection owing to injuries.

The handle said, “? UPDATE: Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh were not considered for selection for the first ODI against England.

Virat has a mild groin strain while Arshdeep has a right abdominal strain. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring them. #TeamIndia | #ENGvIND

Arshdeep Singh in his first international game displayed all the skills that he possesses. He swung the ball early in the innings and in the end overs he bowled Yorkers at will and also displayed the variety of slower balls at his disposal. There were calls for him to play in the remainder of the T20 games but he wasn’t considered.

Arshdeep broke his way through into the Indian team after performing well for Punjab Kings in back-to-back IPLs.
