Axar Patel’s Batting Needed A Little Boost: Sanjay Manjrekar
Cricket commentator Sanjay Manjrekar shared a tweet in which he said that Axar Patel’s growth has been exceptional as a spinner but he needed a little boost with the bat which came in the IND vs WI 2nd ODI.
“Axar’s growth as an international spinner has been exceptional, just the batting needed a little boost. Hope this game changing performance with bat does precisely that,” Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.

Axar Patel’s heroics in the match were not only limited to batting. He also played a crucial role with the ball. The left-arm spinner bowled 9 overs in the match and conceded just 40 runs and also hunted 1 wicket. For his all-round show, he was awarded the man of the match award.
During the post-match presentation, Patel called his knock a special one.
“I think this is a special one. It came at a crucial time and also helped the team to win the series. We have done the same in the IPL. We just needed to remain calm and keep the intensity up. I was playing an ODI after close to five years. I would want to continue performing like this for my team,” Patel said.

Axar Patel returned to the ODI team almost after 5 years. Ahead of the IND vs WI ODI series, he last played an ODI match back in 2017. In 2 ODI games against West Indies so far, the left-handed batter has scored 85 runs in 2 innings at an average of 85.0 and strike rate of 151+. With the ball, he has picked 1 wicket in 2 games at an economy of 5.19.
