IND vs WI: Revealed - Who Will Lead India In Last 2 T20Is vs West Indies If Rohit Sharma Gets Ruled Out Due To Injury
The final two games of the India-West Indies T20I series will be played on August 6 and 7 in the United States.
The Men in Blue are up 2-1 in the series, and they can clinch it with a victory in any of the final two T20Is. On Tuesday, August 2, during the third T20I, India experienced a fright about an injury as captain Rohit Sharma had to quit while batting due to a back spasm.
Although there has been no formal announcement, he is still optimistic that he can recuperate in time for the next two T20Is.
India will have a new captain in the event that Rohit misses a match, though the team management would hope he stays well.
Hardik Pandya May Lead If Rohit Sharma Misses Out
Many would assume that Rishabh Pant would captain the team after he did so for India in the five-match T20I series against South Africa, but KL Rahul is also not travelling with the team. Hardik Pandya assisted him throughout the series.
But if Rohit misses, Rishabh won’t be given the captaincy and may return to the vice-captaincy position. Hardik Pandya will take over as captain anytime Rohit misses a match because the BCCI named him the vice-captain for the series.
It came as a bit of a surprise when Hardik was chosen as vice-captain, although Rishabh’s performance in T20Is may have played a role. The batter hasn’t yet distinguished himself in the shortest format at the highest level.
Hardik, on the other hand, is now a lock for the T20I and ODI teams. In the two-match T20I series against Ireland, he captained India. On August 6 and 7, starting at 8:00 PM IST, Florida will host the 4th and 5th Twenty20 Internationals of the series.
