Twitter was abuzz with Sanju Samson’s save in the final over of the 1st ODI played between India and West Indies at the Port of Spain in Trinidad. Sanju Samson redeemed himself with a diving save while keeping wickets in the final over of the game when the West Indies just needed 15 runs in the final over of Mohammed Siraj with 4 wickets in hand.

Team India lost the toss and were invited to bat first by the Caribbean skipper, Nicholas Pooran. Captain Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill gave India the perfect start as they knit a century stand between themselves. Shikhar Dhawan missed his century by just 3 runs as he was dismissed on 97 runs, which was his 6th dismissal in the nervous 90s.

Shreyas Iyer also scored a great half-century and after Iyer’s wicket, the Indian batting collapsed with a few contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Deepak Hooda. Axar Patel also managed to score 21 runs at a strike rate of 100 and team India finished on 308 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 50 overs.

Coming to the chase, The West Indians were dealt with an early blow in the form of Shai Hope. However, Shamarh Brooks and Kyle Mayers put up a 100-run partnership for the second wicket and provided stability to the West Indies innings. Brandon King also scored a massive half-century as West Indies cruised towards the target.

Fireworks from Romario Shepherd towards the end of the West Indies innings brought them the bring of victory. In the final over of the match, the Windies needed just 15 runs with the set pair of Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd batting. If not for Sanju Samson’s diving save on the 5th delivery of the final over, the ball would have travelled to the boundary and India could’ve lost the game.

Finally, India managed to win the game with a thin margin of just 3 runs and Twitter was ecstatic with Sanju Smason’s brilliant save in the final over. Here are the best reactions:
