Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan had a blast on his first day as the captain of the Indian cricket team in the West Indies. First, after losing the toss, he came out to bat with Shubman Gill and gave India a massive opening partnership of more than 100 runs. Dhawan himself scored 97 runs and missed his century by just 3 runs.

Gill, on the other hand, was run out by Nicholas Pooran with some sluggish running between the wickets from Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer came up with a gritty knock of 54 runs in 57 deliveries and after Iyer’s wicket, it was a downfall in the Indian batting lineup with small contributions from the likes of Surykumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, and Axar Patel.

With all these contributions from the bat, team India managed to score 308 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 50 overs. However, the hosts came all guns blazing and a century stands between Shamarh Brooks and Kyle Mayers put signs of worry in the Indian camp. Brandon King followed up with a half-century too but the Indians managed to pull off a final over win by a margin of just 3 runs.
