There are significant logistical issues with the West Indies-India Twenty20 series, therefore it may not come as a surprise if Cricket West Indies (CWI) decides to hold the final two games in the Caribbean. Members of both sides have not yet acquired their US visas, as reported by cricbuzz, and a Plan B has been in preparation.

As per the current schedule, the 4th and 5th games of the series are to be played on August 6 and 7 at Central Broward Park in Lauderhill, Florida in the US, but as per Cricbuzz many players of the India and West Indies teams still do not have their US travel documents.

The Games Could Be Held In The Caribbean If The US Visas Do Not Arrive

“Having the games in the Caribbean is not unlikely but efforts are being made to resolve the visa issue,” said a source in West Indies cricket on Sunday, July 31, as reported by Cricbuzz.

The initial information said that after the teams arrived in St. Kitts, the players would receive their US travel documents. The players might, however, need to return to Trinidad for the visa paperwork before continuing on to the US if they receive the all-clear.

The CWI verified the uncertainty surrounding the Florida games and the series’ preparations for Plan B.

“There are options being explored while we continue to pursue the possibilities of receiving the outstanding visas,” Ricky Skerritt, the president of the CWI told Cricbuzz.

The difficulty in acquiring a US travel document worldwide must be noted at this point.

With two games scheduled back-to-back for the following two days (August 1 and 2) in St. Kitts and the remaining two games in Miami, Florida, India leads the five-game series by 1-0 after the first T20I.
