WI vs IND: Twitter Reacts As Shai Hope Scores A Century In His 100th ODI

On Sunday, July 24, during the second ODI between India and the West Indies, Shai Hope made an incredible 100 runs in his 100th ODI. This was his 13th ODI century, making him the fourth member of the West Indies to do so in their 100th game, joining Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, and Gordon Greenidge. He also became the tenth person overall to accomplish this massive feat.
Earlier, at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bat first against India.
India had won a thrilling first match and currently lead the three-match series with a three-run victory in the opening ODI.
Despite putting up a valiant effort in the first ODI against Shikhar Dhawan and company, Nicolas Pooran’s team came up just short.
Shai Hope Looked Comfortable Throughout The Innings
For the West Indies, Shai Hope has amassed 4078 runs in 99 ODIs before this game. In the 50-over format, he had 12 hundreds and 20 half-centuries to his credit. In 22 one-day internationals against India, he had amassed 758 runs at an average of 44.50, including 2 hundreds prior to hitting the 3rd one at Trinidad.
On Sunday he and Kyle Mayers started the innings well for the WI. Although West Indies lost a couple of wickets after reaching the 100-run mark Hope continued to chip away at his own pace. Captain Nicholas Pooran gave him good support from one end.
Hope was impressive against both spinners and pacers.
Hope was struggling for runs for some time as he could not manage to get a single big score against Bangladesh.
