IND vs ZIM: It Is Good That KL Rahul Is Back In The Team: Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan, India’s vice-captain, praised KL Rahul’s homecoming, saying the star opener will benefit greatly from the playing experience he receives in Zimbabwe before the Asia Cup in 2022. Rahul was selected captain of the 16-man squad for the three-match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe, which begins on August 18.
Rahul has not played competitive cricket since leading Lucknow Super Giants to the IPL 2022 playoffs. Rahul underwent sports hernia surgery in Germany after being ruled out of the 5-match T20I series against South Africa at home. Rahul also missed the crucial trip to England and was ruled out of the West Indies tour after contracting Covid-19 while undergoing rehabilitation in Bengaluru.
We, Will, Be On Our Toes Against Zimbabwe And Would Not Take Anything For Granted: Shikhar Dhawan
“It’s very good news that KL is back in the side and leading the side. He is one of the main players of the Indian team. With the Asia Cup coming ahead, it’s a good outing for him. I am sure he will gain a lot from this tour,” Dhawan told the press on Tuesday in Harare.
“It’s a good thing that they won against Bangladesh. They are playing good cricket. It’s a good thing for us, it’s going to keep us on our toes. We are not going to take anything for granted or lightly. A good team always focuses on its process. We should make sure that we do our process right whenever we take on any team. Our focus will be to get the wins under our belt,” Dhawan added on how India will play against their opponent.
