Deepak Chahar returned to international action on Thursday, August 18, against Zimbabwe, bowling a magnificent stint of 27/3 in seven overs. It aided the visitors in dismissing Zimbabwe for 189, with India prevailing by 10 wickets.

Chahar was named Player of the Match and was spotted relaxing after the game. The Indian seamer had a good time chatting around with spinner Axar Patel.

Axar, who took over for Yuzvendra Chahal on Chahal TV, was the perfect person to pull Axar’s leg. Chahar also expressed his happiness at making a long-overdue comeback to international cricket.

Take a look at the conversation:

Axar Patel: “I’ve e come from Florida to Harare and today we have Deepak Chahar with us. What was your mindset when you came to Zimbabwe?”

Deepak Chahar: “I was waiting for a long time to play. It was a tough time, but the good thing is that it keeps changing. Do you say how you are performing so well for such a long time? You have taken over someone’s place.”

Axar: “You keep making strong comebacks.”

Chahar: “You keep taking the interview.”

Axar: “No, no! What will [Yuzvendra] Chahal bhai do (Chahal TV bhi to chalana hai).”

Deepak Chahar and Axar Patel are on the Asia Cup 2022 standby list:

After almost six months, Deepak Chahar made his international cricket comeback. In the opening ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare, he bowled outstandingly. The swing bowler finished his debut stint on 27/3 after taking the first three wickets. Zimbabwe was at one point down to 31/4 thanks to his ability to deliver both in and out swingers.

Axar Patel, Chahar’s partner on the field with the ball, continued his heroics in the meantime by picking up 3/24 of his own.

The two players will next be seen in action on Saturday during the second One-Day International (August 20). Both players have been named to the Asia Cup 2022 standby list. The pair will be hoping to remain in contention for the T20 World Cup, which will be staged in Australia later this year.
