Express pacer Umran Malik castled Devdutt Padikkal in the 5th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, which is being played between Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Tuesday, March 29.

Devdutt Padikkal, who had played at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League as an opener, came out to bat at No. 4 for RR and he started off very slow.

However, the 21-year-old left-handed batsman switched gears and went berserk against the SRH bowling unit. His innings finished at 41 runs off 29 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes and he batted with a strike rate of 141.38.

Padikkal lost his wicket on the last ball of the 15th over, which was bowled by Umran Malik. The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer delivered a back of a length delivery and the Rajasthan Royals batter was looking to play it towards the third man but his timing was poor and the ball crashed into off and middle stumps.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field first in the match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the first over and he gave away just 1 run. Romario Shepherd bowled the second over and he conceded only 5 runs and Bhuvneshwar gave away 7 runs in the third over of the match.

The 4th over was bowled by express pacer Umran Malik and it turned out to be a terrible over from Sunrisers Hyderabad’s perspective as the pacer got smashed for 4 boundaries by Buttler. In the next two overs, which were bowled by Washington Sundar and T Natarajan, the RR openers scored 18 and 6 runs to help Rajasthan Royals reach 58 runs mark at the end of the powerplay.

Also, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson played an explosive knock and helped RR reach the 100-run mark in the 11th over.
