Home-and-away Format To Return In IPL 2023
The outgoing Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly confirmed that the Indian Premier League will return to the home-and-away format in the IPL 2023 season.
“The next season of men’s IPL will also go back to the home-and-away format with all the 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues,” BCCI’s outgoing president Sourav Ganguly had mentioned in his letter to state associations on September 22.
Notably, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will go back to the home-and-away format after three long years. The Indian Premier League 2020 was held entirely in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Indian Premier League 2021 was played in two different phases due to the Covid-19 pandemic with one phase being held in India and the other phase taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Meanwhile, the group stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was played entirely in the state of Maharashtra, with Mumbai and Pune hosting the matches while Kolkata and Ahmedabad hosted the playoffs.
