Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has hit back at England’s explosive top-order batter Harry Brook, who became the latest Englishman to join an infamous list. That list is nothing else but England-based players refusing to feature in IPL after landing lucrative contracts during auctions. Harry Brook will not be heading to India for the grandest T20 tournament of the year, as per Cricbuzz.
Aakash Chopra did not waste much time and took to X and cryptically criticized English players. His tweet did not have much content on it except for asking IPL franchises to invest in England cricketers wisely. He knows pretty well that England players are too moody and change their minds at times.

Buy English players at the IPL Auction at your own peril 🫣🙄
It all started for Harry Brook after he had to return home back to the UK from England’s 5-match Test series tour of India in January due to personal reasons. It was assumed at that time that Brook could also snub the 2024 IPL edition for the same reason and the exact same thing has happened.
“The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space,” ECB’s press release read in January.
After a season where he mainly flopped after being bought from more than 13 crores, Delhi Capitals acquired him for a cut-off price of 4 crores in the IPL auction for 2024 at Dubai’s Coca-Cola arena. DC captain Rishabh Pant, who received the green light to feature as a wicket-keeper batsman this season, was also involved in the process.
Now it will be interesting to see who DC brings in as Harry Brook’s replacement. Australia’s big-hitting sensation John Fraser-McGurk is expected to be on the move to Delhi after he made a name for himself with his aggressive style of play.
Another thing to be seen is whether it will impact Delhi Capitals or not. Harry Brook would have added massive strength to the DC batting order which comprises David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Prithvi Shaw, and Pant among others. Harry Brook would have come at 3 or 4 and his possible replacement McGurk is a proper opening batsman.
That could hinder the team combination and batting order of the Ricky Ponting head-coached side which will be aiming to land its maiden IPL trophy this season.
