BCCI goes hard on Harshit Rana, imposes one-of-a-kind punishment on KKR pacer after his feud with Mayank Agarwal

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Harshit Rana has been fined for breaching level 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. Harshit Rana received a fine for his aggressive send-offs during his team’s recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Kolkata.
The Shreyas Iyer-led team secured a four-run victory in the third match of the ongoing IPL season at Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 23. Harshit Rana played a pivotal role in his team’s victory, taking three wickets and conceding 33 runs in his four-over quota.
Harshit Rana Fined 60% Of Match Fee
Harshit Rana was fined 60 percent of his match fees for two Level 1 offenses under Article 2.5 of the Code, with fines of 10 percent and 50 percent, respectively. Rana accepted the sanctions imposed by the Match Referee.
“Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Harshit Rana has been fined a total of 60 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 23.”
“Rana committed two Level 1 offences under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He was fined 10 percent and 50 percent of his match fees for the two respective offenses. Rana admitted to the two offenses and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” read the statement from IPL.
Harshit Rana gave aggressive send-offs to both Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen in the recent game. Following Mayank’s dismissal, the right-arm pacer blew a kiss, prompting a reaction from the batter. Mayank departed after scoring 32 runs off 21 balls.
The young KKR pacer also did the same for Heinrich Klaasen after dismissing him in the final over of the match. The batter was dismissed for 63 runs off 29 balls, with the help of eight sixes. Suyash Sharma took a superb catch while running backward from short third.
Harshit Rana Successfully Defended 13 Runs In The Final Over
Harshit Rana showcased an outstanding performance against SRH, emerging as one of KKR’s standout players. His contribution was remarkable, especially given Mitchell Starc’s costly spell. Rana’s efforts played a significant role in his team’s success in the recent match.
Harshit Rana successfully defended 13 runs in the final over, despite conceding a six off the first ball, reducing the target to just 7 runs off 5 balls. However, he managed to dismiss Shahbaz Ahmed and Klaasen, ultimately securing a thrilling victory for his team.
All-rounder Andre Russell was named the player of the match for his exceptional batting performance. He scored an unbeaten 64 off 25 balls, comprising three boundaries and seven sixes. Russell rescued the Kolkata team from a challenging position of 119/6.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side ascended to third place in the 10-team points table, accumulating 2 points with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.200. Kolkata is scheduled to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, March 29.
