The Delhi Police X (formerly Twitter) admin took a hilarious dig at Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir and Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli squashing their beef last night.
Both Gambhir and Kohli were seen hugging each other and exchanging a few words with a smile on their face during match no. 10 at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. Fans were expecting to see another fight between the two statesmen but what transpired was very good to see.
Last season when Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had met each other in the IPL league stage, the duo brought back memories of the 2013 season. That was the first occasion Kohli and Gambhir got into an argument after the former had gotten out while playing against KKR when the latter was captaining the franchise which was fresh off an IPL title win in 2012.
10 years later during the 2023 season when Gambhir was mentoring the Lucknow Super Giants for the second season in a row, he had a fiery face-off with Virat Kohli. It all started with Avesh Khan throwing his helmet after scoring the winning runs against RCB at the Chinnaswamy. Then Naveen-Ul-Haq instigated the batting stalwart in the reverse fixture at the Ekana stadium and that was what created all the controversy.
What did the Delhi Police post about Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir?
Last night during the strategic timeout of the 1st innings when RCB were batting, Gautam Gambhir had come to the field to have a word with KKR bowlers on how to stop the flow of runs. That’s when the moment was captured as Gambhir appeared to give a side hug to Virat Kohli, who reciprocated the gesture with a bright and positive smile.
With that, the squash between Gambhir and Kohli ended, and that intrigued Delhi Police to post a hilarious tweet that marketed their department’s capability to stop a fight. “Had a fight? Dial 112 and calm the quarrel, No fight is ‘Virat’ or ‘Gambhir’.”
That tweet was meant to give a message through the meaning of the former India teammates’ names. While Virat means gigantic, Gambhir means tensed or angered. Therefore, Delhi Police wanted to convey that one can dial 112 to stop an argument since no fight is huge or tense.

The post from Delhi Police drew plenty of reactions from fans of both Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. While some fans liked the tweet quite a lot, others took a dig of their own at the Police department.
Virat Kohli’s second consecutive fifty goes in vain as KKR beat RCB by 7 wickets
Meanwhile, despite a wonderful effort from Virat Kohli last night against KKR, the RCB lost the match in a one-sided affair by 7 wickets. Kohli had smacked his second consecutive fifty last night as he scored 83 off 59 balls to post 183 as the target. Then in response, the Knight Riders’ batting unit chased down the total by the 17th over. The likes of Phil Salt (30 off 20), Sunil Narine (47 off 22), Venkatesh Iyer (50 off 30) and Shreyas Iyer (39 off 24) guided KKR towards their second victory of the season.
