"Honored to meet him," says Shubman Gill after meeting Robin Minz's father at Ranchi airport

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill recently met Francis Xavier Minz, father of his IPL franchise’s new recruit Robin Minz. The India star caught up with Minz senior in Ranchi where he recently played for Team India in the fourth Test against England.

The Test match ended earlier this week. And as Shubman Gill was leaving Ranchi, he decided to meet Francis at the Ranchi airport where he works as a security official. Francis also worked in the Indian army before working as a security personnel. He was on duty when the Indian players arrived at the airport to board the flight for their next destination.

Shubman Gill took out time to meet and greet his new IPL teammate’s father in a heartwarming gesture. Not only that, he also clicked a picture with Francis and posted it as an Instagram story on Wednesday (February 28).

Posting the photo, Shubman Gill wrote: “Honoured to meet @rob_in_13_’s father. Your journey and hardwork has been inspiring. Looking forward to seeing you in the IPL.”

A video of the meeting between the two has also gone viral on social media as the fans praised the newly-appointed Gujarat Titans skipper for his warm gesture. The IPL franchise posted the video on social media and wrote: “Humility exemplified as Captain Gill meets Francis Minz, our new Titan, Robin Minz’s father!”

Shubman Gill stars in Ranchi Test:

Talking about the Ranchi Test, Shubman Gill starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten half-century in the second innings to power India to a series-clinching five-wicket win. India have clinched the five-match series with a match to go and have an unassailable 3-1 lead.

Chasing 192 on a tough pitch, the hosts were reeling at 120 for 5 before Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel bailed the team out of trouble. The duo shared an unbeaten stand of 72 runs to take India home. Gill showed remarkable composure and patience, scoring an unbeaten 52 off 124 balls. In the first innings, he had scored 38 runs.
