Gujarat Titans (GT) have suffered a massive blow ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Star batter Robin Minz has been ruled out from the entire tournament. Head coach Ashish Nehra confirmed the development while speaking to PTI.

Gujarat Titans star Robin Minz met with a tragic accident on (2nd March). He was involved in a horrible bike accident when he was returning home. He was riding his bike when he crashed with another bike and he lost control of his vehicle.

The reports claimed that his bike skidded on the road and he fell on the ground. Robin Minz was then rushed to hospital as he suffered bruises on his right knee as well. The keeper-batter was kept under observation. His father also provided an update, saying that the youngster his fine and it was expected that he would be available for the league.

But things weren’t like as seemed earlier. His injuries are much worse than expected and now has been ruled out of the IPL 2024. Head coach Ashish Nehra while attending the press conference confirmed the same and stated: “It is unfortunate but we were also excited about a guy like Minz.”

Robin Minz was acquired by Gujarat Titans at the IPL 2024 auction for INR 3.6 crore. He was in a lot of demand in the auction as he invited a bidding war between Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians before the Shubman Gill-led side acquired him.

Robin Minz is rated highly in Indian domestic cricket. He is one of the key young performers for Karnataka. He was last seen in action during the Col CK Nayudu Trophy and made sure he left an impact.

Robin Minz played a magnificent innings of 137 runs for Karnataka in the knockout game. His form would’ve been a big plus for Gujarat Titans in the IPL. But unfortunately, fans will have to wait one more year to see him in action at the biggest stage in league cricket.

I want to see how Shubman Gill operates as captain of Gujarat Titans- Ashish Nehra

Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra also expressed his desire to see how Shubman Gill takes the captaincy role in the league. The former left-arm pacer stated that the whole of India is excited to see the youngster leading the team. He added:

“As a new captain, I want to see how he (Gill) operates and not just me, the whole of India would like to see because he is that kind of a player.

“He is looking to play and do well in all three formats, so we as a franchise would like to help him grow more as a person than as a captain. If he grows as a person, he will grow more as a captain going forward and get better and better.”

Shubman Gill was handed the leadership after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians. Gujarat Titans will open their account in the league against Mumbai Indians on 24th March at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.
