Mayank Yadav grabbed a lot of eyeballs after his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. Mayank Yadav clocked the fastest delivery of IPL 2024 in the match. However, Mumbai Indians pacer Gerald Coetzee broke his record just after two days. Gerald Coetzee surpassed LSG pacer’s record during the MI vs RR clash.

Mayank Yadav is Lucknow Super Giants’ newest recruit in IPL 2024. The right-arm pacer made his IPL debut on Saturday, March 30 during LSG vs PBKS clash. He clocked the fastest-ever delivery in IPL 2024 in the match, clocking 155.80 kmph.

The 21-year-old pacer hunted 4 wickets for 27 runs in the match with his lethal pace attack. His brilliant spell helped LSG to restrict the Punjab Kings from chasing a 200-run target. Mayank Yadav also won the player of the match award for his stupendous spell.

Gerald Coetzee breaks Mayank Yadav’s record after 2 days

Clocking the fastest-ever delivery in IPL 2024, Mayank Yadav became a widely-known pacer in the Indian cricket fraternity just after his debut. However, his record lasted for only two days after MI pacer Gerald Coetzee bowled an even-faster ball during the MI vs RR clash on Monday, April 1.

During the clash against Rajasthan Royals, Gerald Coetzee touched the speed of 157.4 kmph during the final ball of the match. Although RR batter Riyan Parag got the winning runs for Rajasthan Royals on the delivery, Coetzee scripted his name in IPL 2024 record books with the very same delivery.

Shaun Taits holds the record for the fastest delivery in IPL history

Meanwhile, Shaun Tait shines at IPL’s fastest delivery record books like a sun in the sky. The former Aussie pacer holds the record for the fastest delivery in IPL history with 157.71 kmph. However, Gerald Coetzee missed the shot by a thin margin.

Meanwhile, Coetzee was picked by Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 auction. The South Africa pacer grabbed the limelight with his bowling show in the ICC ODI World Cup last year in India.

He finished as the highest-ever wicket-taker for South Africa in the tournament with 20 scalps. The 23-year-old became the first-ever Proteas pacer to register 20 wickets in an ODI World Cup tournament.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will next face Delhi Capitals at their home ground on Sunday, April 7. The five-time champions have lost 3 games in a row and take the last spot in the IPL 2024 points table.
