Even before the start of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024), MS Dhoni stunned the cricketing world by stepping down as the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

While the fans were eagerly waiting for the former India captain to show his captaincy skills for at least one more season, he decided otherwise. One day before the start of the tournament last week, MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad.

And while MS Dhoni won’t be seen as a captain in IPL 2024, it looks like the former CSK skipper could roll his arms for his team in the ongoing tournament. Just before the start of the game against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday (March 26), he was seen bowling in the practice session.

The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman has played over 250 games in the IPL so far but has never really bowled in the competition. MS Dhoni is known for springing surprises every now and then and he could really delight his fans by finally bowling an over or two in the IPL.

MS Dhoni finally fit:

MS Dhoni bowling in the nets is also an indication of his good fitness. The veteran player struggled with his injured knee throughout IPL 2023 and had to undergo surgery. He has fully recovered and will be looking to make a bigger impact in IPL 2024. In the last season, he could face only 57 deliveries as he tried to face as less deliveries as possible due to his knee injury. In those 57 deliveries, he had scored an impressive 104 runs.

Talking about the ongoing game between CSK and GT, the latter have won the toss and opted to bowl first. Both teams began their campaign in IPL 2024 with a win. While CSK beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament opener, GT got the better of Mumbai Indians. At the time of writing this report, CSK were on 62 for no loss in the 6th over with Rachin Ravindra batting on 46 and Gaikwad on 13.
