Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Coach Andy Flower has fired shots at opposition teams ahead of their IPL 2024 game ahead of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He has backed the team’s top-order strength in batting. Andy Flower believes once RCB’s top five batters start to perform, they will have some big totals on the board in IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru comprise a strong set of batters in IPL 2024 with batting stalwarts like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, and Cameron Green. Rajat Patidar and Anuj Rawat are also part of the batting unit. Although they have less international experience, they have a lot of IPL experience in their kitty.

However, except for Virat Kohli, the other top-order batters have failed to impress with their batting in IPL 2024. After three games, Faf du Plessis has hit 46 runs, Glenn Maxwell has added 31 runs, Rajat Patidar has captured 21 runs, and Cameron Green has smacked 54 runs.

All of them have averages below 20’s. On the other hand, Kohli has scored 181 runs across 3 games with a stunning average of 90.50. At a strike rate of 141+, Kohli has smacked 2 half-centuries across 3 games with a top knock of unbeaten 83 runs.

Our top five batsmen are yet to fire: RCB Coach Andy Flower

Speaking in the pre-match press conference of the RCB vs LSG match of IPL 2024, RCB Coach Andy Flower backed the team’s batting might in the top order. He believes that once RCB’s top-order gain back their form, RCB will post big totals on the board.

“Our top five batsmen are yet to fire. There are big scores on offer at Chinnaswamy. So, once our big batsmen start scoring runs, I think we’ll see some of those big scores. I have absolutely no doubt about that,” Andy Flower said.

Speaking about the upcoming RCB vs LSG game, Andy Flower said he expects the pitch to offer runs due to short boundaries and a quick outfield.

“To be honest, I expect the pitch to be a reasonable pitch tomorrow night. We scored 184 here a couple of nights ago and that was chased down in 17 overs. So, there are big scores on offer particularly the venue being a little smaller. The ball travels here on the field too,” the former Zimbabwe cricketer further added.
