The Rohit Sharma vs Hardik Pandya battle has taken a new toll as both the players have unfollowed each other on social media platform Instagram. Recently, Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh gave a befitting reply to Mumbai Indians (MI) Coach Mark Boucher, who supported Hardik Pandya’s replacement over Rohit Sharma as MI skipper.

Ritika Sajdeh revealed during a podcast that all is not well inside the MI camp. Her comments also invited a sharp response from Hardik Pandya, who shared a mysterious post just after her comments became viral in the media.

Even since Hardik Pandya was nominated as the new skipper of Mumbai Indians last year, the Rohit Sharma vs Hardik Pandya debate became a viral topic. Mumbai Indians brought Hardik Pandya into their squad with a trade deal with Gujarat Titans. Later, the franchise also made him the skipper for IPL 2024.

However, this did not go well with Rohit Sharma fans. His fans expressed their anger on social media against the franchise. Notably, Sharma led Mumbai Indians to five IPL trophies under his captaincy. He is also dubbed as the most successful IPL captain, as MI was the only team until the 2020 season to hold the most 5 titles.

Mark Boucher and Ritika Sajdeh’s comments have added fire to the Rohit Sharma vs Hardik Pandya matter. According to the report, both the Mumbai Indians stars have also unfollowed each other on Instagram.

After Sharma was removed as MI skipper as captain, the franchise lost over 4 million followers on social media. It came as the biggest shock for Indian cricket fans ahead of IPL 2024 auction in December last year.

Rohit Sharma returned as India skipper in T20Is last month

Notably, Hardik Pandya also led the team in all the T20I games last year as Rohit Sharma was rested in the shortest format to focus on ODIs and Tests. However, since Pandya sustained an injury ahead of 2024, Sharma returned as skipper in T20Is and also led the side in the T20I series against Afghanistan last month.

With  Sharma’s return to T20Is for India, he is expected to lead the team in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as well. India grabbed a clean sweep against Afghanistan in the T20I series 3-0. Since Team India will not play any T20I games in the lead-up to ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June, Sharma is highly expected to lead India in the ICC event.

Hardik Pandya gearing up for IPL 2024

Hardik Pandya’s injury has also raised doubts about whether he will be able to lead Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, which will start next month. However, Pandya has shared posts and videos of his training sessions in recent times and it looks like he is gearing up to lead MI franchise in IPL 2024.

Also, Team India will not play any T20I or ODI games ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Hence, Hardik Pandya’s addition to the T20I World Cup squad will depend a lot on his performance in IPL 2024.
