Suryakumar Yadav comes out and announces his return, fires warning to Mumbai Indians about 'Riyan Parag 2.0'

Suryakumar Yadav has dropped a big hint on his much-awaited return to action in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). The right-handed batsman has not played a competitive game since December last year owing to a couple of injury setbacks.

His last appearance in competitive cricket came in the T20I series against South Africa. In his last outing, he scored a brilliant century against the Proteas before picking up an ankle injury.

Later, he suffered a sports hernia injury either and had to undergo surgery in Munich in January. While he was hoping to return to action in the DY Patil T20 Cup last month, he failed to recover in time for the tournament. Just ahead of the start of IPL 2024, the Mumbai star underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy but failed to get the green light.

And while only time will tell when Suryakumar Yadav returns to action, the world number one T20 batsman has hinted that his comeback is not very far away. On Thursday (March 28), he took to Instagram to post a story for his IPL teammate Tilak Varma.

He shared a video in which Varma spoke about celebrating his half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad by bringing out his senior teammate’s ‘I am here’ celebration. Sharing the video, Suryakumar Yadav wrote: “Jaldi mulaqat hogi ( We will meet soon).”

Suryakumar Yadav on Riyan Parag:

In another social media post, Suryakumar Yadav also heaped praise on Riyan Parag after the latter’s impressive display with the bat against Delhi Capitals. Parag, who was severely criticized by the fans for his failure to do well in the IPL last season, started IPL 2024 with a knock of 43 against Lucknow Super Giants before scoring a fine fifty against Delhi.

Suryakumar Yadav revealed how he was impressed by Parag’s dedication at the NCA as he wrote:“Met a guy at NCA few weeks ago. He came with a slight niggle. Completely focused on his recovery and with great discipline working on his skills. And I was not wrong to tell that to one of the coaches there ‘He is a changed guy’ RIYAN PARAG 2.0 🔥 Watch out”
