India and Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav cleared the air on his injury and provided a huge fitness update ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He said that his road to recovery is going well and he is hoping to see everyone on the field soon.
India batter Suryakumar Yadav has been out of action since December 2023. He was captaining the India team during the T20I series against South Africa but got injured as he twisted his ankle. He was ruled out of the entire series and the Afghanistan T20Is as well.
Suryakumar Yadav then underwent surgery after the ankle injury and since then many have assumed that he had an operation on the ankle. But the batter confirmed that he underwent surgery for a sports hernia and not the ankle as there has been a lot of confusion.
Suryakumar Yadav also spoke about his recovery and stated that recovery is going well, expressing his desire to get back on the field soon. Taking to his Instagram, he stated:
“Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear something up. Bit of a confusion, I guess. For those who aren’t aware, l was operated on for SPORTS HERNIA a few weeks back not for my ankle. The road to recovery is going really well. Thank you, everyone, for all the love and support, see you all soon.”
Suryakumar Yadav was recently seen batting in the nets. It will be a huge positive for both Mumbai Indians as well as the Indian cricket team. The batter will be keen to make his return, claim his stake back, and light up the stage once again for the team.
Suryakumar Yadav also shared his video from the NCA, in which he was seen having an animated chat with Arshdeep Singh. The batter being at the NCA without any strapping on his leg could well be an indication that he is nearing fitness soon and might make a comeback soon.
Suryakumar Yadav to play a huge role for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024
Suryakumar Yadav is expected to make a comeback in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. There isn’t any confirmation that he will play the first match of the league or not but he is expected to play a massive role for the team in the entire edition for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the key reasons for the success of Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He will be playing under the leadership of Hardik Pandya this time around. The all-rounder was traded to Mumbai from Gujarat and later the franchise made him the captain, replacing Rohit Sharma.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will begin from 22nd March. Mumbai Indians will be playing their first game against Gujarat Giants on Sunday (24th March). With the kind of talent and experience that they have this time around, it won’t be a surprise if they clinch their 6th title in the league.
