Even since Hardik Pandya took the captaincy of the Mumbai Indians team by replacing Rohit Sharma, many fans have attacked him on social media. Fans did not spare Hardik Pandya even inside the stadium during MI’s first two games in IPL 2024.

Earlier, the MI skipper was booed by the Ahmedabad crowd during the team’s opening game vs Gujarat Titans. In the previous clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad too, fans inside Rajiv Gandhi Stadium bored the MI skipper as he arrived on the field to bat.

However this time, Hardik Pandya ignored the haters. A video has gone viral on social media in which Pandya is seen ignoring fans while coming to bat during the SRH vs MI clash of IPL 2024. Have a look at the video below.

 

Fans’ hatred towards Hardik Pandya is due to two reasons. First, he parted ways with Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024 and joined Mumbai Indians. This angered fans of Gujarat Titans. Later, MI removed Rohit Sharma as skipper and named Pandya as the new captain of the side.

The decision did not go well with many Rohit Sharma fans. They criticized the decision on social media and also targeted Pandya. Millions of fans unfollowed Mumbai Indians on social media after the event.

Across two games, Pandya has failed to shine with both bat and ball. He scored 24 off 20 balls in the previous match vs SRH. In the opening clash against MI, Pandya hit 11 off 4 balls but failed to capture winning runs in the final over. He remained wicketless vs GT but picked 1 scalp vs SRH.

MI lose two games in a row in IPL 2024

Meanwhile, MI have faced two back-to-back defeats in IPL 2024. They lost the opening game to GT by 6 runs. In their second game, the men-in-blue were thrashed by Sunrisers Hyderabad in a historic high-scoring encounter.

Batting first in IPL 2024 match 8, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 277-3 in 1st innings, setting the record for highest-ever team total in IPL history. Later, MI also batted well but could only reach 246-5 till the final ball, losing the game by 31 runs. They will next face Rajasthan Royals on Monday, April 1 in their first home match at Wankhede Stadium.
